The Brooklyn-based duo, Matt & Kim brought their energetic, packed set to the Congress Theater last week for what they called "the biggest crowd at a show this tour." They plowed through a 90-minute set with such ease and passion. M&K both stated how much they looked forward to this stop on the tour. Matt was amazed how it seemed like just yesterday they were playing basement shows in Chicago.
CHIRP welcomes Henry Rollins for the second and third nights of his “Long March” spoken-word tour at the Old Town School of Folk Music on Friday and Saturday, November 16th and 17th. Though he’s best known for his singing career, Rollins started going on spoken-word tours while he was a still a singer with Black Flag. While he would continue on to successful solo work, his audio memoir of his days in that band, Get in the Van, would earn him a Grammy award. His performances have evolved to include anecdotes from his travels to countries across the world, some of which have been captured in a new book of photography and writing from Rollins, Occupants.
Both the Friday and Saturday shows begin at 8 PM. For more information, visit oldtownschool.org.

The DIY Trunk Show returns this Saturday, November 17, from 10 AM to 5 PM. This will be the local craft fair’s 10th year running and it’s second year in the Broadway Armory, at 5917 North Broadway St. (near the Thorndale Red line stop).
The show has expanded this year, taking up the whole of the Armory to fit in over 170 vendors, all local merchants selling handmade art, crafts, jewlery, clothing, paper goods, and much more—including food and drink from Wishbone. It’s an all-day opportunity to support local artists and business people while getting in some early holiday shopping, and CHIRP DJs will be on-hand to provide the perfect soundtrack to your patronage!
More information, including directions and a vendor map, can be found at diytrunkshow.com.
