The civil war in Syria drove the Adris family from their home. The war claimed three family members. After a three-year wait, they were able to resettle in Chicago thanks to the Syrian Community Network, and Suzanne Akras Sahloul, who runs that organization as a volunteer.

Len has been an announcer for the Cubs since 2005, with WGN and Comcast SportsNet. He started his work in sports broadcasting in 1999 for the Milwaukee Brewers and the Florida Marlins, and worked for WTMJ for 8 years. In addition to sportscasting, Len also has been monumental in charity work with the Len & Bob Bash at House of Blues, and Hot Stove Cool Music. In 2011 Len won the Harry Caray Sportscaster of the Year Award. A native Michigander, Len lives in Chicago with his wife Pam and son, Leo.
