Throughout December, CHIRP Radio presents its volunteers’ top albums of 2019. Our next list is from DJ Sarah Spencer aka: Io the Resident Alien. 2019 marked my second year DJing at CHIRP Radio, and once again, I was fortunate to be exposed to a lot of great new artists. Although I took a little break from DJing after the birth of my son in July, I'm pleased to be rejoining the weekly schedule in January. You can be sure I'll continue to include these artists in my playlists in 2020. |
Throughout December, CHIRP Radio presents its volunteers’ top albums of 2019. Our next list is from volunteer Eric Wiersema. 2019 was yet another phenomenal year for music! I listened to over 150 new releases this year and this list consists of the 40 albums that received the bulk of my love and attention. Please take these rankings with a grain of salt as these largely depend on my mood at the time and usually change on a daily basis. That being said, all of these albums are top notch and highly recommended by yours truly! |
Throughout December, CHIRP Radio presents its volunteers’ top albums of 2019. Our next list is from DJ and Programming Committee member Tyler Clark. I've been making these lists informally since 2003, for CHIRP since 2014, and for Consequence of Sound since 2017, and this year's was easily the most difficult to finalize. Despite everything going on in our rapidly deteriorating world, music managed to produce some real bounty, a richness that left the top crowded and the honorable mentions littered with records that might've been in the Top 5 in other years. As a counterbalance to anxiety and socio-cultural hopelessness, it's a pretty good start. |

Throughout December, CHIRP Radio presents its volunteers’ top albums of 2019. Our next list is from DJ and Board member emeritus Mike Bennett. Thanks to CHIRP, I still listen to a ton of music. I listened to over 150 2019 releases, hearing all sorts of music from different genres. When compiling this list, I stuck with music that I actually purchased, because that's the stuff that I spent the most time with. There are many amazing albums that I didn't buy, in some cases because artists are now choosing to only release their albums on streaming services, or only on one physical format. This is shame, but there's never a shortage of great music, and I only have so much time. |
