She has written both pop culture criticism and personal essays for The AV Club, Brooklyn Magazine, Buzzfeed, Cosmopolitan, and Jezebel, among several others. She can be seen performing stand-up around the city, most notably as a resident of the monthly Bell Hop showcase with Ian Abramson at the Virgin Hotel. She currently works as the Digital Editor at The Onion.

Artist Interviews Palma Violets
Palma Violets is a four-piece indie/garage rock group out of Lambeth, London. Before their Chicago debut on their first North American tour, Palma Violets sat down with Katie Owens for their first Chicago interview. Conversation went from Chipotle mayonnaise, to the quest for true love, and getting “friend-zoned.” Palma Violets full-length album, 180, released on Rough Trade Records on February 25. Palma Violets will be back at Schubas Tavern on May 1.
