Some tough choices this year. Some of my favorites didn't make the list and some that might have made the list didn't get enough spins on my speakers to earn their way in. I try to base my top 10 on the albums that will stay with me the most—the ones I will listen to and love for years to come. Here's how it shook out in 2014.

Song of the year:Baths – Ocean DeathAfter last year's moody and intimate album Obsidian, Baths released this joyful, throbbing dance track as a teaser in advance of his new EP. The darkness is still there—"bury your body in my graveyard"—but this time it sounds like a celebration.
