Another wonderful creation from a modern-day music titan. Jazz is cool.
[CHICAGO ARTIST] Rule #1 to being a great rapper: Have a distinctive voice. Her's is like a long drink of cool water, with lyrics and flow to match. She deserves all the attention she gets.
A little something for everybody, and it all works brilliantly.
A fantastic melding of styles, with SMD's hypnotic electronics combining forces with the hunting voices of the Deep Throat Choir. The musical equivalent of chocolate falling into peanut butter.
Standout electronica from Brooklyn
Bedroom electronica, but bigger. Right along the path of Aphex Twin.
Satisfyingly old-school rap from the U.S. East Coast and Canada. It came out right at the start of 2018, but "That Ain't Me" was on my personal playlist all year.
[CHICAGO ARTIST] Seems like every year of our current era deserves it's own soundtrack to the doom and destruction. Here's my choice for this year.
Jan St. Werner and Andi Toma's 11th release is a master class in weaving old and new sounds that span decades and genres.
