CHIRP is proud to welcome The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion to their show at Bottom Lounge on Sunday, October 21. After some well-received reunion shows to promote the recent reissues of their 1990s albums (like Extra Width, Orange and Now I Got Worry), the band recorded new material and have just released their first new album in eight years, Meat and Bone. Spencer and Co. have proved themselves just as raucous and commanding as they were all those years ago with performances like their 2010 Pitchfork Music Festival appearance, so come and find out how the new jams sound and how their classics hold up. Bloodshot Bill opens this 17-and-over show which starts at 9 PM.

CHIRP Radio welcomes cover band Nouvelle Vague to the Bottom Lounge on Saturday, October 20. The brainchild of French producers Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux, Nouvelle Vague has recorded three albums’ worth of bossa nova-inflected covers of punk, post-punk, and new-wave classics with several different French and Brazilian vocalists, lending familiar underground standards a new context and a hip, playful spirit. CHIRP Radio is pleased to welcome one-man synthesizer artist Com Truise to the Bottom Lounge on Thursday, October 18. A self-admitted admitted synth obsessive from Princeton, New Jersey, Com Truise (a.k.a. producer Seth Haley) is the maker of an experimental and bottom heavy style he calls “mid-fi synth-wave, slow-motion funk.” His latest album, 2011’s Galactic Melt, is full of bass-heavy instrumentals that meld funk, synth-pop, and Italo disco.

Opening acts to this 17-and-over show include L.A. dance duo Poolside and Brazilian party-starters Bonde do Role, who have just released their new album Tropicalbacanal on Mad Decent records. The show starts at 9pm. See bottomlounge.com for more info.
