The CHIRP Blog

Nikki Stout writesCHIRP Champion: Jason Moody

Jason MoodyWelcome to our new volunteer feature: CHIRP Champions! We'll be using this space to highlight special folks within the CHIRP sphere who have been recognized by their peers for making extraordinary contributions to the organization. Next up is Graphic Designer Jason Moody!

What first drew you to get involved with CHIRP, and how long have you been with the organization?

I was an ensemble member of a Chicago non-profit theater company from 2011-2021 (The Factory Theater). After I stepped away, I suddenly had a lot of time on my hands for creativity. There was also the need to belong to an organization with a bunch of like minded people again. I’d been a fan of CHIRP for many years so I thought I’d give it a shot. I’ve been with the station as a graphic designer and occasional DJ since June of 2022.

Who are your favorite local artists currently working and performing in Chicago?

Lee Ketch has been up to some interesting stuff lately, but I don’t really have a favorite.

What is the best show you’ve seen in Chicago?

I’m thinking Radiohead at Chicago Theater right after OK Computer came out. The crowd was so reverential, you could hear a pin drop. Either that or Leonard Cohen, same venue, for the historic value.

If you could see any artist in history at any Chicago venue, who would it be and where?

That’s a tough one, but let’s say Buddy Holly at Montrose Saloon. Can you imagine? I saw a tribute show there once and I gotta figure the real deal would’ve been incredible.

What CHIRP adventure are you looking forward to next?

I’m looking forward to the next Chicago Independent’s Day! I missed the first one. That and CHIRP DJ Night at the Native, always fun.
