Really great rockin' indie rock from Albuquerque with heavy guitar riffs, melodic organs and emotional, BUILT-TO-SPILL/ LYNC style vocals. This could easily be comparable to all the Elephant 6 stuff like APPLES IN STEREO or the MINDERS mixed with a bit of GUIDED BY VOICES mentality.

This new album from Montreal post-metal trio BIG BRAVE makes use of empty space, cutting in textured walls of distortion and sharp, full-band stabs to the sparse atmospheres the band creates. "Nature Morte" should appeal to fans of labelmates SUMAC and THE BODY if the music was taken to a spartan extreme. RECOMMENDED.

Beautiful ambient jazz textures from Copenhagen duo BREMER / McCOY, weaving electric piano, upright bass, warm synth pads and arpeggios into a meditative whole that is meant to evoke the enriching calm of night. On Luaka Bop and RECOMMENDED.

2010 album from the great ELVIS COSTELLO, coming hot on the heels of his bluegrass-inspired album of the previous year. This record has a strong countrypolitan feel to it, but rocks a little harder like a mid 80s Elvis. That's not to say that's all this is - the songs here move from ragtime to folk to orchestral song, all with the inimitable Costello timbre and elan. EC has been accused of trawling his record collection for inspiration before, but this time it works as a cohesive whole. Each song seems to compliment the others, and the stated theme is "bankruptcy" - but as the working title for 'Armed Forces' was "Emotional Fascism", you can bet we're in for more than an exposition on the credit crunch. Perhaps Elvis' finest in recent years, and definitely one of the best of 2010. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

An amazing debut release from this Philadelphia quartet that swamps around a lazy and laidback pop that is reminding those that can be reminded of the golden era of The Grifters with a less-smokey, more pop-derived backbone. Harmonies subsist on organs, jangly-reverbed guitar lines, swished out drums fills and White-Album-Beatle subservience. Awesome and Recommended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Elzhi (Slum Village) & Oh No team up for a vintage one MC, one producer set of pure hip hop excellence. While Oh is not as well known as his older brother Madlib, he shares a penchant for 'weird' sound sources & 'unusual' samples, but what The Disrupt does with them makes them the perfect bed for Elzhi's Detroit rhymestyle. El has one of the best pen's in all of Hip Hop & has written some of the most intricate verses I've ever heard. If you're a fan of dope beats & dope rhymes, what more could you want!?
