Roger Ebert was the first Pulitzer Prize winning film critic and the reason for that is no mystery. He was simply a wonderful writer. He just happened to write about film (and later, on his blog, many, many other things), with such an expressive voice. Even before he teamed up with Gene Siskel to co-host the influential At The Movies, Ebert was already showing, on a weekly basis, how to make real film criticism accessible to everyone. Thanks to Ebert and Siskel, more indie films got a shot at success, obscure directors and actors became famous, and moviegoers became more aware of things like product placement and letterboxing versus pan and scan.

I love CHIRP because I feel like I'm listening to friends talk about their favorite bands. The station is commercial free and the DJs have a passion for what they play. I've been wild about CHIRP for some time now. I routinely find myself wanting to hear high quality, local music. Because, who wouldn't? CHIRP, however, gives it to me just the way I like it – incredible fidelity, intelligent, quippy on air talent, and a mobile presence that is always reliable. Great for sitting in a coffee shop, eating scones, sipping something strong, and wanting to feel connected to the sounds of the city. You know how much I like CHIRP?
I don't even live in this city anymore, and it remains my go to listening experience… after 3 years. I'll keep giving these folks money, because Chicago deserves something this awesome. -- Jonathan Tolliver (Member)
