Mike Gibson Thursdays, 3PM
No matter how many times he moves away, Mike will be a life-long Chicagoan. He just brings the best of this country back with him, from the curmudgeonly scowl he wears during his daily commute to his love/fear of the word “y’all”. When he’s not picking out music for his next show, he can be found asleep at his computer desk, screens glowing full of html, css and javascript—some of it resulting in this very page you’re looking at—with the smell of silk-screen ink making his apartment feel like home. He cut his chops at WHFH in Homewood, IL and then at WLUW in Chicago. He was also a pioneer in the world of music-based podcasting with his show 75 Minutes, which he pulled the curtain on just as that whole podcasting thing exploded. Did I mention Mike’s got great timing? Many peg him as the torch-bearer of all things screamy circa 1996, but check out those playlists. He’s got plenty of musical love in his heart, and spreads it around to everything he can get his hands on (especially if it’s got a catchy hook and a warm keyboard).
