Just writing about this gives me goosebumps...anyway, over two years in the making, this much anticipated collaboration between mic manhandler MF DOOM and infamous Beat Conductor MADLIB is finally in our hands; where to begin?! How about the fact that both artists are at their zenith here--Madlib comes up with his finest beats since Quasimoto's "Unseen," and Doom just going off on his stream-of-conciousness rhyme flow (even rhyming SYLLABLES on the haunting "Figaro") that remains unmatched. Throw in an aesthetic that left most of these songs clocking in at UNDER 2 minutes and a slim guest list (M.E.D, WILDCHILD, LORD QUAS, and STACY EPPS) and you get the most left-field, asbtract rap record since "De La Soul Is Dead." On STONES THROW and NECESSARY!!

One of the biggest smashes of the summer, FREDDIE GIBBS and MADLIB (aka MADGIBBS) reunite to follow up their 2014 'Pinata' collaboration. The album is an end-to-end banger, with plenty of twists and turns, hi-gloss production, earworms and inimitable raps. A modern-day classic, very highly recommended.

FINALLY!!! Full-length collaboraton between MADLIB (on the beats) & Gary, Indiana-born FREDDIE GIBBS (on the mic). With MADLIB stretching out on jazz, rock, soul, etc, it's good to hear him behind the boards for a straight, raw hip-hop project. Believe us, GIBBS is pure hip-hop, his voice totally distinguishable & his flow dense as hell. The icing on the cake is appearances from DANNY BROWN, RAEKWON, EARL SWEATSHIRT, SCARFACE (GETO BOYS), BJ THE CHICAGO KID, CASEY VEGGIES & more. This will be on a lot of Best of 2014 lists, mark our words. RECOMMENDED!

7th volume of MADLIB's monthly, 2010 "Medicine Show" series! This volume focuses on MADLIB's fictional jazz group, YESTERDAY'S NEW QUINTET & all of their fictional side-projects. The disc is presented like a compilation of tracks taken from various, limited releases, none of which really exist (yet). Very, very cool stuff for fans of spaced-out jazz - THERE IS NO HIP-HOP ON THIS RELEASE WHATSOEVER. Jazz!

"Sound Ancestors" has been out in the world streaming for a few months now & we're very excited to be able to finally stock these in the racks. This isn't the first collaboration between MADLIB & Kieran Hebden aka FOUR TET but it's certainly the most fully realized one. Hebden acts more as an arranger or editor for MADLIB's beats & samples. The album has a great flow & bounces from psych-rock breaks to soulful vocal passages, a decent variety of guitar samples, some jazzy excursions all combined with MADLIB's insane knack for digging out the coolest beats. Hebden's thoughtful arranging gives everything enough room to breathe & it really grows on you with repeat listens. AN INSTANT CLASSIC!

FINALLY. Long-delayed 9th installment of MADLIB's monthly "Medicine Show" releases is very much worth the wait. Straight hip-hop with FRANK NITT on the mic & MADLIB on the beats. Totally blunted stuff; this ain't ILLOGIC or some other cerebral-type of MC'ing. NITT is straight-up on the bragging, blunts & bitches type of rhyming, but does it with such finesse and clever wordplay that we don't evem care we're not learning something. Hip-hop is meant to be fun, any- way, so get silly & BUY THIS NOW. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
