It's hard not to like LAMBCHOP really. First of all their records sound so damn good. Kurt Wagner has always surrounded himself with top-notch musicians who seem to realize that it's not always what you play but often what you DON'T play that matters. There isn't a wasted note on "Danaged." Lyrically, Wanger's words have always read like a letter to a friend, direct & to the point but with familiarity & emotion. You could calls this alt-country I suppose, but there's so many aspects of LAMBCHOP'S music that spill into other genres that it's hard to pin them down completely.

There seems to have always been a mystical importance to Kurt Wagner and LAMBCHOP that has somewhat proceeded their actual finished product. Despite a slew of amazing releases that have evolved from indie-country to an odd mixture of Philly soul and folk, nothing has hit the veins of the Lambchop "element" as much as this release. A little softer, a little more focused, a little more passionate and less removed, LAMBCHOP's 14 members seem to revolve around the simple voice of Wagner and his soft and elegant colloquialism. Backed by strings, piano, slide guitar, drums and some keyboard nuances, this record speaks to something deep and is by far their most private and thought out work.
