KELIS
FLESH TONE
INTERSCOPE
Perhaps a bit of a departure, but 2010's "Flesh Tone" is really something to hear. Kelis has made it quite clear she is not interested in making the same album twice. It should not be surprising that Kelis' personal life undoubtedly influenced and shaped this album. She and rapper Nas divorced and had a son, both of which are lyrical fodder on the album (see "Brave" and "Song For the Baby"). No stranger to controversy, this album full of anthemic House tunes and discotheque vibes is made by a women who allegedly made several fur coats for her dogs. Alright, so maybe that doesn't explain this album any better, but she is a self-described bossy lady and knows what she wants. It should also be noted this album is a regular "Prodcuer Cocktail," credits have been given to half a dozen or so heads including David Guetta, Boyz Noize, DJ Ammo, Diplo, Switch, and Benny Nenassi. Shed some of your musical hang ups and loose your dancing inhibitions and you may warm up to "Flesh Tone." RECOMMENDED Summer Listening!
