A lot of the press around this band refers to the CAVE SINGERS as a folk band. Sure, there's a lot of acoustic guitar & some vocals, but you'll find those things in a lot of music that isn't folk. Anyway, CAVE SINGERS are from Seattle & they feature ex-members of MURDER CITY DEVILS, PRETTY GIRLS MAKE GRAVES & HINT HINT. You'll quickly realize that CAVE SINGERS are nothing like their previous bands. They play stripped down folky (yes we said 'folky' but not folk) indie rock that's sort of like BAND OF HORSES without distortion or 'TUSK' era FLEETWOOD MAC without the ladies & all the coke (as far as we know at least.) This is a strong debut that should appeal to most indie rock fans.

A splendid collection of NICK's post BIRTHDAY PARTY endeavours spanning nearly two decades.Very well integrated momments of his entire solo career, from the low-fi "From Her To Eternity era" to his All-star colaborations with the likes of KYLIE MINOGUE & POLLY JEAN HARVEY.

We've reached that point where pandemic records are being released. Nick Cave is one of the world's greatest performers & he should be sweating through his fancy suit & stage diving into crowds. Instead, he's recorded this intimate album of himself alone at a piano in an empty theatre in London playing 21 songs from throughout his career. Beautiful stuff.

Do we have to spell it out? 3-cd's worth of b-sides and alternate versions from NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS. This is a RECOMMENDED treat for the hardcore Cave fans. On MUTE.

The winding road of Nick Cave's career careens along towards another delicate work of piano led ballads. This path has a few more jagged boulders than "The Boatman's call" however. Nick Cave & BAD SEEDS/DIRTY THREE member Warren Ellis have scored a number of films over the past decade or so & this is their first proper album as a duo away from THE BAD SEEDS. Cave's lyrics are short story-like with spoken word passages at times with sparse arrangements & beats. This probably most similar to the recent "Ghosteen" & the other more subdued Cave album like "No More Shall We Part" & "Boatman's Call" but there's an experimental "looseness" that Ellis brings to the songs. RECOMMENDED OF COURSE.
