JAMESES
CARIBOU
FIFTH DIMENSION
CAPTUREDTR
A throwback, double-sider to music akin to the Cramps and the Cure consecutively by this Florida group Jameses. "After their self-released debut "The Haunted Rider," The Jameses are back with an equally engaging follow-up "Caribou." With lyrics reminiscent of an evil Lewis Carroll disjointed by a circular guitar riff and some psychedelic synth washes, "Caribou" is the best Jameses track yet." Captured Tracks

SWIM
MERGE
Dan Snaith, formerly of Manitoba, returns with another electronic infused chapter in a seried of albums that have surprised some but primarily pleased most. Following 2007's "Andorra" was not an easy task. "Andorra" garnered awards like Canada's prestigious Polaris Music Prize and made it to many best of lists that year. "Swim" has, already, collected steam as being "Caribou's masterpiece" and "the record he's wanted to bring to fruition for as he's been making music." Highlights include "Up In Flames" and "Start Breaking My Heart." On Merge Records.

UP IN FLAMES (2CD, REISSUE)
DOMINO
Second album of pop songs from this "pretty sure they be actin' like they from Canada," but not really Canadian group CARIBOU. Intelligent yet playful, the group has honed a sound that will remind some of PRIMAL SCREAM, MERCURY REV, and FRIDGE, their cunning arrangements leave them in a category all their own. On DOMINO and R E C O M M E N D E D ! ! ! ! ! 2 CD reissue featuring unreleased tracks, and videos!

ANDORRA
Merge
The orgins of the name Andorra refers to a region tucked away, and nestled in between Spain and France. It is listed as having the longest human life expectancy of any peoples on Earth. DAN SNAITH must of had this and other facts of the countries culture in mind to name his 2007 album after it. Recorded entirely at home, and primarily alone (one track has help from JEREMY GREENSPAN from JUNIOR BOYS) the sounds captured from his solo work are lush and complex. Layers of vocals, percussion, and snythesiezed sounds collide to form a warm fuzz of analog and electronic. This is a gorgeous mixture, well-tempered, and even keeled. Think the MICROPHONES for all that home recording aptitude, think ANIMAL COLLECTIVE for the vocal layering, and think THOM YORKE's solo material for the electronic meanderings. A piece of contemporary aural art! Coupon inside entitles you to a digital download of the entire album.

A glorious return for Dan Snaith, aka CARIBOU, with the first release in over five years, sees the polymath pulling from sample-heavy beat production a la J DILLA or THE AVALANCHES and the lite synth pop of TAME IMPALA. This music is joyful, infectious and well, well worth the wait. RECOMMENDED!
