Every fourth Wednesday of the month is CHIRP Night at the Whistler — an evening where you can enjoy the music of CHIRP-curated local artists, the Whistler’s take on classic cocktails, and the good feeling of supporting independent radio.

This July, we're excited to welcome Chicago's own Mother Nature with Pledge Drive to the Whistler stage. As usual, there is no cover for this 21 and over event, and it all kicks off around 8:30pm.

Classic Album Sundays is a group album listening experience that builds a community of music lovers and CHIRP is proud to co-sponsor the series in Chicago. Join us during July as we will feature one of our favourite bands of all time Kraftwerk and their seminal album ‘Trans-Europe Express’ which turns forty in 2017.

The album is structured around the concept of a train moving across a continent that was rapidly becoming borderless and digital. Forty years later this theme is as relevant as ever in a world dominated by social media and the internet and while the concept of a European community is being challenged.

Kraftwerk’s trademark electronic  beats are at their cleanest here, while the glacial tones and angelic backing vocals have never since resonated with such purity; and let’s not forget this is one of the root sources of hip-hop, thanks to Afrika Bambaataa’s appropriation of the “metal on metal” section of the title track for the seminal “Planet Rock”.

Astonishingly fresh and as important as ever, we cannot wait to hear this album on our legendary audiophile soundsystems.
