4544 N Lincoln Ave · Gary and Laura Maurer Concert Hall · 773.728.6000

  • Having drawn attention with his original compositions, arrangements and covers, French pianist Maxence Cyrin is back with Novö Piano II in which, with emotion and mischievousness, he takes a new look at the pop-rock repertoire of the ‘80s and ‘90s, from The Cure to Björk, by way of Soundgarden and Van Halen.

Maxence Cyrin is a pianist and a French composer living in Paris. After a solid pianistic education at the conservatory, he became interested in electronic music. On the album entitled Modern Rhapsodies, released in 2005 with FCom (record label of the DJ Laurent Garnier), he arranged tracks from Massive Attack, Depeche Mode and Moby for solo piano. The album Novö Piano was released in 2009, where he transposed some pop, rock and electro hits from Daft Punk, Nirvana, and The Pixies. The music video for the Pixies song “Where Is My Mind” has been viewed more than 5 million times on YouTube. In 2012 he released the album The Fantasist, an imaginary movie soundtrack with piano, strings and synthesizers. In 2014, he signed with the classical record label Evidence Classics, led by the famous sound engineer Nicolas Bartholomée. In January 2015, he released a new opus entitled Nocturnes, consisting of ten delicate and poetic compositions for solo piano.
